The City of Monterey Park, California (population approximately 60,000) is looking for a Director of Community Development who is “big picture” and a leader/facilitator for moving the organization forward, working with others, and accomplishing City goals and objectives, not be a “regulator.” The typical background for the position is Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's degree is preferred) and at least 7 years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in public administration in a comparable position or other managerial capacity that includes supervision. Prior experience in both a Planning Department and Economic Department is preferable..  The annual salary range of the position is $154,932 to $245,640, and the City provides an excellent benefit package.
