The City of Angels Camp is seeking an experienced, collaborative municipal leader to serve as its next City Administrator. Located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Angels Camp is a historic and welcoming community known for its Gold Rush heritage, small-town charm, and strong civic pride. As the only incorporated city in Calaveras County, the City provides a full range of municipal services with approximately 40 dedicated employees across administration, finance, police, fire, planning and building, engineering, public works, and water/wastewater utilities.

Operating under the Council-Manager form of government, the City is guided by a Strategic Plan emphasizing public safety, infrastructure investment, operational efficiency, and stewardship of historic and environmental assets. The City Administrator reports directly to the five-member City Council and serves as the City’s chief executive officer.

The Ideal Candidate

The City seeks a forward-thinking, solutions-oriented leader with strong communication skills, integrity, and a commitment to public service. The ideal candidate will bring experience in municipal operations, budgeting, community and economic development, and interagency coordination. The Administrator must be an approachable, strategic manager whose proactive engagement style builds trust with staff, residents, regional partners, and civic organizations.

Key Priorities

Major water, wastewater, and street improvements; economic development initiatives; implementation of the Vacant Buildings Ordinance; coordination with Caltrans on major transportation projects; advancement of the 107-unit Eureka Oaks Habitat for Humanity development; and continued progress on parks, code compliance, and organizational development.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $153,193 – $186,204 annually, plus CalPERS retirement, health benefits, management leave, vacation, sick leave, holidays, professional development support, and additional benefits. Relocation assistance may be considered.
