The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate complex/technical information into understandable terms. They will be comfortable with public speaking, and excellent at legal research, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. Strong interpersonal skills, high ethical standards, and commitment to integrity is required. Placement as a DCA I or II will be based on a combination of education and experience. Requires graduation from an accredited school of law with a JD, preferably with a specialization or emphasis on municipal law, labor relations, land use, environmental, and/or administrative law. To qualify for the DCA I, candidates must possess two years of professional experience preferably in municipal law, and to qualify as a DCA II, candidates must possess four years of professional experience preferably in municipal law. Possession of a valid California State Bar License is required.
The annual salary for this position is $122,578 - $148,899 (DCA I) and $152,628 - $185,521 (DCA II). The City offers an attractive benefit package including 2.5% @ 55 CalPERS for classic members, 100% paid employee medical insurance, bilingual pay, and a generous paid leave program.
