Fire Chief - Montecito Fire Protection District
The Montecito Fire Protection District is seeking an experienced fire service professional to lead its well-regarded Fire Department. The Chief will lead a department that is strongly supported by its community. The ideal candidate must be collaborative and work well with regional partners. They must have experience in budgeting, working with union representatives, including during contract negotiations, and the mentoring of employees. They must be a strong communicator, approachable, and are expected to act without delay in emergency situations. They must have a strong background in structural and wildland firefighting and the response to natural disasters.
The minimum requirements for this position are a bachelor's degree in a job related or similar field, ten years experience in the fire service with at least five years of service at the Chief Officer level, including one year in an administrative capacity, and possession of a minimum of an Emergency Medical Technician certification. Desirable qualifications include a master’s degree and certification as a Fire Chief Officer or Executive Fire Officer.
The annual salary is $336,528. The District provides an outstanding benefit package.
