As the City’s Chief Operating Officer, the Assistant City Manager works closely with the City Manager to lead key departments—Human Resources, Risk Management, and the City Clerk’s Office—while overseeing major projects, supporting staff development, and representing the organization in the community and with elected officials.
The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded municipal background with experience in local government operations, including project management, and familiarity with HR, development services, finance, and economic development. The City seeks a proactive, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent leader who fosters collaboration, builds trust, and communicates effectively. A passion for public service and an aspiration to serve as a City Manager in the future are essential.
Moorpark is a high-performing organization that values transparency, integrity, and innovation. The annual salary range is $173,347- $233,147 DOE/DOQ. The City offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package, including CalPERS retirement, generous health and leave benefits, flexible scheduling, and a 9/80 workweek.
